We are writing to provide some context around the store closure announcements made in last month's earnings call in the U.S.
Since this has received quite a bit of interest, news coverage and queries locally, we want to provide you with the following facts:
• The closure announcement of 150 stores is a global number in terms of our store base and not a reference in any way to the Nordic region in particular.
• The announcement is in no way a change in our successful strategy on previous years and we will continue to manage our stores and locations to maximise profitability. This is simply business as usual.
• We are planning continual investment in our stores. We invested both heavily and successfully in GS+ stores throughout Northern Europe last year and the GameStop standard fit-out stores will also be invested in over the coming months.
We also invested in the future by introducing new locations and new ideas to the business, including the first and currently the only two Think Geek-branded store locations outside of the U.S which we are proud to have opened in the Northern European region in Stockholm and Dublin.
We have a vibrant and growing store base, and we will continue to look for business opportunities for our store base in the Nordic region.
