EA meni ja osti itselleen autopeleihin erikoistuneen Codemastersin. Historiassa tämä on tarkoittanut sitä, että EA ryhtyy niin sanotusti mikromanageroimaan ostamaansa studiota, jolloin firman veteraanit nostavat kytkintä. Ja sitten lopulta koko pulju suljetaan. Esimerkiksi Pandemic Studios oli suuri ja menestynyt itsenäinen firma, jonka EA osti itselleen vuonna 2007. Kaksi vuotta myöhemmin koko studio ajettiin alas.
EA sanoo kuitenkin oppineen läksynsä. IGN:n haastattelema EA:n "executive vice president of strategic growth" Matt Bilbey sanoi, että Codemastersia kohdellaan itsenäisenä ryhmänä ("independent group").
"We will be treating the Codemasters' studios as an independent group for the foreseeable future, giving them all the support they need to deliver their much-loved games and exploring all opportunities for growth as we go. We're incredibly excited about what the future holds for them and while they will remain independent, we will be there to pour fuel on their growth capabilities through the power of EA's distribution."
