Kesällä 2020 Sony kohahdutti pelaavaa maailmaa ostamalla pienen osuuden Epic Gamesista, joka siis muistetaan Fortnitesta ja Unreal Engine -pelimoottorista. Nälkä on kasvanut syödessä, ja nyt on ostettu lisää osuutta peräti miljardin dollarin edestä. Asiasta kertoi Epic Games itse. Diiliä hehkutti syystäkin Sonyn toimitusjohtaja Kenichiro Yoshida.

Sony mainitsee syyksi Unreal Enginen ja muun teknologian, joiden avulla Sony voi kehittää parempia pelejä jatkossa elokuvien erikoistehosteita unohtamatta.
