Doom Eternal oli isosti esillä Bethesdan E3-lähetyksessä. Yhtenä uutena tietona saatiin videon kera kuulla moninpelimuodosta Battle Mode, jossa yksi pelaaja pukeutuu Doom Slayerin haarniskaan, ja kaksi muuta pelaajaa ovat sitten demoneja.
Gamereactor pääsi E3-messuilla haastattelemaan vastaavaa tuottajaa Marty Strattonia ja luovaa ohjaajaa Hugo Martinia. Heidän mukaansa Battle Mode tekee Doomin "tanssista" sosiaalisemman.
"We really just wanted to make the Doom dance social, you know. I don't think it's a proper Doom game if it doesn't ship with a really kickass competitive, multiplayer experience. This is what we're offering up this time, we're really proud of it. It's very original, it's got great pacing, good drama, lots of metas, deep strategy - I think fans will love it."
"It's 2v1, so you pick your Demons or you pick the Slayer side. They're both fun to play. If I had to say, I think the Demons are a little more accessible than playing as the Slayer - he's kind of a high-end experience, requires a lot of twitch response that really relies on your thumbs a little bit. But for the Demons, they each have their own abilities and kind of a style of play. You have to work together, it requires strategy, it's really, really fun, and so yeah, 2v1, and there's a little something for everybody there."
